European Composer(s) of the Year for LOVELESS
Variety: A New Generation of Composers Steps Forward
"The dark, haunting and brooding music intensifies the experience of watching the film. Beautifully written, with an intelligent use of piano effects, the score works like an extra character added to the unfortunate family. From beginning to end, the music captivates the underlying tensions, the hidden truths and lies, and guides you through the story, without being overtly present."
Brothers Evgueni and Sacha Galperine are equally at ease and focused on storytelling, whether working on independent films—over a dozen in Europe and Asia— mass-market films, or contributing music to blockbusters like M. Night Shyamalan’s SPLIT, and Garry Ross’ The Hunger Games. Their international credits include Luc Besson’s The Family, Asghar Farhadi’s The Past, Nicolas Provost‘s The Invader (Best Music award at Ghent Film Festival), Jiang Wenli’s Lan, and Jan Komasa’s acclaimed film, Corpus Christi.
Recent credits include scores for HBO's Original film The Undoing (Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant), Radioactive, Marjane Satrapi’s biopic starring Rosamund Pike as Marie Curie, HBO’s Peabody Award-winning documentary Welcome to Chechnya, directed by David France, the acclaimed French TV series Le Baron Noir, Barry Levinson’s Paterno (Al Pacino) and the film LOVELESS, directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev (LEVIATHAN) which was awarded Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival, the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and was an Academy Award nominee for Best foreign film.
